Don't let me rot - Don't drive so fast

Description

"When you are driving... Think about us... Your speed can kill us, and many others. Don't let me rot as if i'm nothing. Think about the animals!"
I decided to make this stamp today due to a rather unfortunate sight I had to see this morning. A cat was laying death on the road when I had to pick something up
at the post office. It doesn't only make me sad but it also makes me rather angry... I wanted to make this stamp to rant about this topic but also talk and hope some
people will think about this when they are driving.

Driving to fast is irresponsible.
How many people that I have met that seem to enjoy driving fast and feel totally cool about themselves is almost ridiculous. People of today drive to FAST! Not all of
them luckily, but many do. I had the pleasure on one of my holidays, to be in a car with a driver who simply kicked from speeding up. Even speeding up before a red
light and acting like a child that's playing a car game. Roadkill is 8/10 the driver mistake. Of course you can argue that the animal jumped on the road etc, this is were
you use the brakes! My father has even stopped for a black cat in the middle of the night so if he can do that it would be odd others can't. The only exceptions would be
on highways since it's to dangerous to stop, and birds due to their different view which causes them to calculate the distance between them and cars different, making them
do those suicide like drops in front of cars. But many animals can be easily stopped for unless your driving to fast which is mostly the case.

Driving to fast ...
Does not make you cool, or look like a movie star, it makes you look like a complete moron... If you want to drive fast then go to a circuit and hope you get out alive.
Some people like the person I talked to simply said he got a kick of driving fast and it's cool, and in many cases people who drive fast actually "think" they can drive
well. The world is not mario kart or any other race game, in the real world animals become victims of reckless drivers.

If you know someone that drives to fast, urge them to stop that and to change their driving habits.

Accident ? Then why let the victim rot ?
I hate the majority of excuse people give when it comes to roadkill. Most people like to blame it on the animals, while driving to fast and reckless is mostly the reason
to the many deaths that occur. Most people who hit an animal with their car were driving to fast and therefore will quickly leave as well to avoid being held responsible
for the animal they just killed. Sadly no one can be pressed charges for hitting an animal because "it's just an animal"... Which is sad, people that drive to fast shouldn't
have a licence. Accidents I can understand on highways but not in towns or calm roads. The least the person can do is check on the animal and drag it to the side of the
road. This happens so much, including to our own species. Not long ago here in Belgium a 12 year old girl got hit by someone who was driving to fast, that guy left the scene
leaving the little girl there who sadly passed away, the sad part is that they know who did it but the guy is no were to be found and sadly not native to our country meaning
he could be everywhere. Last week a girl in my class got hit by a car on her motorcycle and the guy also left, luckily she wasn't harmed but it could have been similar.
People should care about roadkill because it happens to our own species as well by people who drive reckless. The saddest part is that they leave the animals to rot which also
causes other cars and motorcycles to drive over it.

This stamp is towards all victims of roadkill
The majority of pictures used in this stamp are cats, this is mostly because this stamp is made in honor of the feline that passed away. But this stamp counts for all victims
of roadkill. Some people might argue it's just an animal, which is sad to know that some people think about it that way. But if you need another reason for driving slower
then perhaps the fact that humans can become victims of cars as well might make you care more. Think about the owners of the cats or dogs as well, how they fell when
they suddenly hear that their beloved animal is death or went missing. Believe me when I say this, but I would be heartbroken.

R.I.P. The cat that passed away
The cat in the first picture of this stamp, is the cat I was talking about that got killed on the road. A road were people simply drive to fast and which probably became the
reason and misfortune to this cat. I went to check up on the cat hoping it was maybe alive but sadly this wasn't the case, because we were driving with the car I couldn't
do much more. Later on the evening I returned with a bag to take the cat with and place it in the forest were it can become one with nature in time... I did this because
no creature deserves to be laying on concrete only to be ridden over and over again, luckily people avoided the cat which allowed me to take it with, if it got driven over
again this would probably be impossible. The last photo you see on the stamp is the cat in the forest...I took photo's for one reason only and that was in case I would run
into police for some odd reason, then I would have prove it was roadkill since I don't really want to be held responsible for something I didn't do, later on I decided to use
these photo's in the stamp in honor of the poor cat that passed away. I am going to keep an eye out on missing cats pictures, seeing this cat was really heavy I assume
it was someone's cat. It definitely makes me sad to have seen this, picking the animal up in a bag made me slightly break mentally mostly because I rather see the animal
alive than death. But I refused to let it rot there so I did the work that the asshole that killed the animal should have done... RIP

Check we might be alive
So many people drive past roadkill without knowing the possibility there is that the animal is still alive. I myself together with my father drove to a squirrel my dad had seen
on the road that was also a victim to a car that went way to fast. I went to check and the squirrel looked death until I picked it up it showed movement. Some animals
might be in so much pain that they will barley move or show any sign of life, in most cases they can also die from the cold. Some animals due to the pain might play death
as a natural instinct to keep themselves safe. Please check up on the animals they might be alive, I have taken the time to check up on the squirrel who thanks to me and
my dad is alive, and weeks later was released into the wild in a forest far away from the roads. Of course if organs are showing the chances of the animal being alive are zero.

If the animal isn't alive, please consider to remove it from the road. Don't let the animal be driven over and over. If the animal has a collar check to whom it belongs if not,
remove it from the road and leave it on a place were cars can't reach it.

Consider keeping cats inside most of the time
Wild animals will always be put at risk, same for feral cats and dogs. But cats in general? Please keep them inside, you might not think about it right now but only imagine
if it was you picking up a death cat from the road. My 3 kittens will be indoor cats, or oldest cat luckily never managed to get further than the garden and rarely goes outside.
So my advice to people is keep them in and have leashes to take a walk with them but remember the amount of danger you put your animal in when you don't keep them
inside or behind fences. The exception here is feral cats mostly because they hate it to be indoors the whole time. We have one feral cat that luckily avoid the road even
though I rather had her be an indoor cat, but sadly she kind of panics when kept indoors to long so nothing can be done to that. But when you have cats that aren't feral
consider to keep them inside were it's cozy and safe.

-Photo's of cats are by me taken of random cats in the neighborhood
-Other animals except the squirrel were taken by me, the squirrel was from a google image

:star: This stamp was in honor of the cat that passed away, in hope to remind people to drive safe. Having 5 cats myself it truly effects me deeply how these animals get hit and killed
and left to rot, no cat and no animals deserves that. Knowing how loving cats can be it just makes me sad seeing this cat got killed.

That poor cat in the first pic....

I'm afraid to drive now because I would hate to hit an animal (or person) by accident whether I'm going slow or not...
